See below for more details about the workshops.
Mechanics of dissociation
Everything that occurs in the legs is dissociated but at the same time is a consequence of what happens first in the embrace.
This element can be found in all the American dances that have an African influence: Samba, Joropo, Cumbia and Uruguayan Candombe.
The mechanics of dissociation is the only certainty of an Afro influence in Tango.
The relation of the legs is the opposite of that of the chest: closed positions below and open positions above.
This is the dissociation; creating curved lines around the partner by producing the enveloping movements of Tango.
Mechanics to walk together
Surely human beings are geared to walk forward.
There is no such thing as backward femur-pelvis articulation.
So the woman must understand how to throw her leg backwards while maintaining the alignment with her axis and then how to follow the mans thrust.
Dynamics of improvisation
It is in the upper space of the close embrace that sharing can start.
The whole beauty of Tango starts with the embrace: this is the place where one communicates with the other.
The mechanics of Tango makes free use of the space, without any rigid choreography.
There is no step 1, 2, 3, etc. There is a person who uses a language to express what he or she wants to say.
When we speak of Tango, we speak of improvisation; there cannot be any preset schemes which would deprive Tango from its very essence.
